Shortage of B.C. Supreme Court judges forces chambers to shut down on Sept 18

Richard Fowler, Q.C. was interviewed by CKNW reporter Charmaine de Silva regarding the full day closer of family and civil chambers that occurred on Sept 18, 2017. Mr. Fowler, who is on the Board of the Trial Lawyers Association of BC, noted that delays like this mean that people aren’t getting access to justice when critical matters are in issue. Further, people paying for lawyers scheduled to be in court that day may well be out a significant amount of money, never mind the cost to taxpayers for matters where Crown Counsel was scheduled to appear.
