Yebes test based on the wrongful conviction of Tomas Yebes who was recently exonerated with the help of the UBC Innocence Project

After 37 years Tomas Yebes has finally cleared his name of the murder of his two young sons. Richard Fowler was part of the team of veteran criminal defence lawyers who worked with the UBC Innocence Project over a period of 10 years to prepare the case that got Mr. Yebes’ conviction overturned. Unfortunately, the original decision will remain on Canlii as the test for upholding guilty verdicts even though it is based on a wrongful conviction.
